Crate training isn't "imprisoning" your dog. it teaches them responsibility and calms anxiety. create positive associations with the crate through the use of treats and games.. Give your dog a crate command. teach your pup a command to enter the crate so you don’t always need to lure them inside with a treat. say "crate" or "kennel up" and point to the crate door with a treat in your hand. once your dog enters, praise them and feed them the treat.. Start with just a few minutes in the crate at a time, using treats. just reward her for being inside, then take her right out again. at night or when your puppy is already sleepy, scoop your puppy up and put her inside. keep the crate in your bedroom at night..
Once your dog can happily stay in their crate with the door shut after eating and you can step away from their side, you can start to train them to be in the crate outside of feeding time as well. by now your dog knows the command word such as ‘crate’ or ‘bed’ so use this to send them in and give them a reward for doing it..
